What could be more fun than writing a poem about polar bears? We had SO MUCH FUN coming up with great adjectives to describe them, and great verbs to tell what they do. Add that together and you see our lonnnnnng polar bear poems! We had an energetic time reading them to each other. We love polar bears! P.S. Did you know that a polar bear's skin is really black? True!

We switched from the bottom of the world to the top in our studies this week. We are learning about the Arctic! We have done a lot of comparing/contrasting our way of life with that of the frigid north. We even imagined what we would do as snowmen and did some writing about that. Take a look!
We have been studying the coldest, windiest, driest place on the planet - Antarctica! We have learned about many species of penguins. We learned that the Emperor penguin is the tallest and is about the size of a First Grader. So, the students measured themselves against an Emperor penguin. I love the penguin art they did, ice blocks and all!
The winter in Houston rarely allows us to have snow, but we can pretend! Check out these snowmen we created. We wrote about how to build a snowman, even if it's just in our imagination!
