2-dimensional shapes, King & Queen books, The Big Orange Splot, a microscope and some experiments9/20/2019 We enjoyed our study of 2-D shapes. We use straws and connectors to make shapes. We used pattern blocks to make different shapes. We also used paper shapes to create pictures! The students enjoyed working together to create shapes on the iPads. We finished our King & Queen unit and the students loved sharing their books with each other. We enjoyed this fun book, then the students created a house of their dreams! Our young scientists enjoyed looking at slides through the microscope. We did some interesting experiments with heating and cooling with chocolate, butter, and crayons. They loved watching the state of matter change.
We've been enjoying our Color Unit. The students worked in groups to illustrate one part of this delightful book. Our 9/11 Hall of Remembrance Our PTO volunteers worked tirelessly to create a memorial to those lost on 9/11. Every victim's name is displayed. It looks incredible! We have been practicing our addition and subtraction in many ways. We worked on our retelling skills after reading My Big Green Pocketbook. The students enjoyed making their own green pocketbooks or briefcases and sharing their contents with friends. In Social Studies, we have been learning about what makes a good citizen. We have amazing good citizens in our classroom! Carrot Day! We measured, observed, weighed, read and wrote about carrots! It was a fun day. Spring Creek Spirit Night! I enjoyed seeing many of you and even had a visit from my grandchildren! I missed a few students after I left the restaurant. Thank you to everyone that came!
We have been working on our observation skills in Science. We worked in teams to find ways to sort these monster cards. The Little Red Hen What fun it was to act out the story! The students giggled all the way through. Science experiments are the best! These wonderful volunteer moms came in to help the students do a color experiment with Skittles in our beautiful new lab. They loved it! Thanks for your help! In Math, we worked on ordering numbers (or cards). It was funny watching them put themselves in order. We compared numbers using greater than and less than (with Fruit Loops!). We had a lot of fun on Yellow Day after reading Press Here. The students created a page of their own. Math games are always fun!
