We have completed our King and Queen unit. Each day a different student was selected. We asked them questions about their favorite things, then wrote and illustrated a page for their book. Along with working on questioning strategies, we worked on our composition skills and had mini-lessons on writing. We also worked on matching a picture with their words. They loved it! This week each student was presented with their own book and they had a great time sharing. It warmed my heart to hear random comments throughout the room, thanking each other for the page they contributed.

Carrot Day was exciting! We measured, weighed and observed our carrots. We had classroom winners for Longest carrot, Shortest carrot, Biggest carrot, and Funniest carrot. We then compared each classroom winner with all of First Grade. We even used our carrots to measure each other! We finished the day with a yummy carrot treat. Parents, Open House is Tuesday, September 18 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. I have a lot of information to share with you, and you can see some of the great things we are doing in our class. Take a look at the flyer below. Hope to see you there!
We are off to a great start in First Grade! Last week we worked on some patterns in math. Take a look at some of their creations below. Also, although I only have one dog, I had 4 dogs to take care of this weekend! It was pretty hilarious. Take a look at all of them. Feeding time was crazy!
