We had a rainy Field day, so opted for INDOOR FIELD DAY. We had games, races, and activities inside. It turned out to be such fun! A sweet classmate made these awesome headbands for all the girls in the classroom! Here's a peek at our "ocean in a bottle" project we did this week!

All hands on deck! We've been learning so many interesting things about the ocean! We made some really neat books about ocean animals and shared them with friends. We had fun one day, doing a play about Rainbow Fish. It is a lovely book, and they enjoyed all of the characters. We made our own Rainbow Fish, and connected the feelings in the story to some of our own. Making a wish on a magic fish was a lot of fun! We learned that the father seahorse is the one that takes care of the eggs until they grow into babies. Look at our colorful seahorses!
After reading A House For Hermit Crab, we discussed the similarities between the crab who needs a bigger shell, and a First Grader who is moving on to Second Grade. Here are some "new shells"! We started our study of the ocean with making our own little "islands." After our study of life cycles, the students created creative life cycles of interesting butterflies.
Our hallway is all covered in crafts we made to celebrate China. The students have enjoyed learning about this interesting country. We enjoyed some traditional food from China, including mandarin oranges, eggrolls and rice. It was a yummy treat! The students dressed in diverse attire as we marched through the school. It was a fun parade! |
AuthorI am a retired First Grade teacher in Texas. I have two children, two daughters-in-law, a grandson and granddaughter. Our beloved pup, Rocco, went to heaven this year. He was 15 years old. I've been married 37 years. I would love to hear from any former students! Archives
