What an exciting week we had with our Thanksgiving Feast! The students made homemade "butter" and contributed to the fruit salad. We talked so much about the first Thanksgiving and how exciting it would have been! This was my view from my rocking chair at the start of the day! Pilgrims and Native Americans everywhere! We shook the jars of cream until the butter appeared (sorry my camera was acting up). Our principal, Mrs. Dow, stopped by to join in the festivities. We celebrated the love for our families with a special book, written just for them! Here are some turkeys in disguise! Here's a social studies project that we put together. After discussing goods and services, everyone created a business and identified if they produced goods or provided a service. We called it "Scottie's Neighborhood!"

This iMovie will warm your heart! The students share things that make them give thanks. So sweet! Veterans Day is a day of reflection and remembrance at Highlands. We had a wonderful assembly, and made signs for the Hallway of Honor. We even recorded a little message for Mrs. Moeller's son, who is in the military. We did a fun guessing game activity with jobs, goods and services. The students made a great effort with turning a blank paper into a profession. Here are a few writing activities that we did. I love to see their progress! These turkeys are really beautiful! Thanksgiving is on the way. We've also been working on a little project you will see next week!
We had a fun math activity, using addition to make a Monster. The students giggled and laughed their way through! After studying trees this week, we took time to do a few leaf rubbings. Rocks are a natural resource. We enjoyed our "Rock Lab" as our young scientists recorded their observations. |
