Today (with the help of some very kind technology specialists!), we recorded some iMovies about the Rainforest. Each student was able to assist with filming, taking photos, and putting it all together. They did an awesome job. Each movie features 7 or 8 students. Sit back and enjoy the show! They will share their research with you and show you their beautiful paintings. One group even acted out what their animals would do!
We have been consuming lots of poetry in the past few weeks. The students have written a lot of original poetry, and enjoyed poetry written by different authors. April is National Poetry Month, and Friday was "Poem in Your Pocket" Day. We filled our little pockets with poems and enjoyed them throughout the day. We worked hard to produce the images and products you will see in our movie about Geometry. The students identified shapes and figures, then did a sorting activity on the Macbook. We did extension activities with paper shapes, toothpicks & marshmallows, Shape Bingo, rubber bands and geoboards, Geoboard on the iPad, and math manipulatives (to build pictures from shapes). We observed and discussed where we could see these shapes in real life. We wrote about it and recorded our observations. Finally, we blogged about it. Some of the pictures were taken by students. It was a learning experience for me and I hope to use my new knowledge to produce more movies with the students. Enjoy!
P.S. Please leave us a comment and let us know what you think! Our study of rocks and soil continued with the introduction of redworms. Each student prepared a compost bag and observed their worm before adding it to its new home. We will be observing the breakdown of food in the bag and (hopefully) the growth of these living organisms. We had a lot of squealing on worm day! |
