We've enjoyed so many wonderful books about the ocean and the animals that live there. Here are a few of the activities we've done. We had a special visitor when my son Conrad brought his dog, Penny Monster for a visit. She loved it!
Here's a little slideshow of our Field Day. First Graders know how to have fun!
Have you ever heard of a "flipped" classroom? It is a new concept in education and technology. With this model, students view the teacher's lecture at home so that more time can be spent in class with the actual lesson. I would like to try this with our students. It is new and different, but I think we can do it! Directions for the students: 1. View this iMovie (about 5 minutes long). 2. Write your responses on the Student Blog. That's it! We will start the work on our Research projects next week. And for a laugh, I added a little video of the Koski dogs at the end! This is a cute little iMovie trailer that we made in class. We are starting our study of the ocean and they wanted to call themselves the Scottie Pirates! Chinese scrolls: The students were either born in the Year of the Dog, or Year of the Rooster We've had such a busy week! We made a lot of Chinese crafts, had our food tasting on Wednesday, and the parade on Friday. Our Highlands Scotties always have fond memories of these Multicultural weeks at school. |
AuthorI am a retired First Grade teacher in Texas. I have two children, two daughters-in-law, a grandson and granddaughter. Our beloved pup, Rocco, went to heaven this year. He was 15 years old. I've been married 37 years. I would love to hear from any former students! Archives
