We've been "living in the Arctic" all week. We have enjoyed so many great books, especially Mama, Do You Love Me? and Angela From the Arctic. We had fun creating these beautiful igloos "under the Northern lights", and the Inuit people that dress in heavy parkas with fur. We finished our MAIN IDEA chart, based on the entire Tacky the Penguin series. We identified the main idea in each of the 8 books, including the one the students did for their Flipped Classroom activity!

We have been learning about penguins, and all things winter. We've been very engaged with learning penguin facts (check the student blog tab to read what each child wrote). Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest place on the planet! Here are a few more activities. Aren't the snowmen adorable? They also made a snow "person" and wrote about things they could do in the snow. I love the cups of hot chocolate, filled with adjectives!
This week we will do our homework a little differently. Students, please listen to the following story, Tackylocks and the Three Bears. When you finish, write the Main Idea and 2 details (at least) on the paper I sent home for homework. We will discuss at school and add comments to our chart. I can't wait to see what you thought of the story! Feel free to leave me a comment below after you hear the story! |
