We had lots of fun exploring the Children's Museum.
Look at these magnificent pictures of Washington and Lincoln! We learned a lot about the presidents and wrote some facts. In Science, we have learned a lot about objects in the sky. We went outside to stand in place of the planets to show how far they are from the sun. We are working on measurement in math. We used cubes to measure and record our findings. It was hilarious to see the students act out the story of Cinderella! Field Trip! We had lots of fun exploring the Children's Museum. It was a bit too wet at the park, so we returned to our classroom for a picnic. It was a fun day!

We wrote some persuasive pieces about our favorite season. Which is your favorite? We continued our fairy tale unit with acting out the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We had some laughs with these characters! We made finger puppets and scenery to share the story with a friend. It was our week to say the pledges on the morning announcements. We have been studying landforms and made our own with playdoh. Valentine's Day! We spent time making lots of heart animals and valentines. We made and delivered valentines to our custodians and cafeteria workers! Each team of students used candy hearts to make a creation. Then we used to hearts to do some measuring activities. Time to open our valentines! Our party!
Thanks to the PTO for the fun candy robots and treats! Happy Chinese New Year! We had fun learning about this special day. Our counselor, Mrs. Hsu, visited our class. She shared some memories and information about Chinese New Year, and showed us how to make lanterns. One of our students brought fancy red envelopes for everyone in the class! We read books about dental health this week. The students worked in groups to read fiction texts. The students then wrote their own imaginative stories about life as a tooth fairy. Math games and math stations are always fun! We are ready to celebrate Valentine's Day next week!
We celebrated 100 days of school with lots of fun activities and stations! I asked the students to write about what they had learned over the past 100 days. My heart was so full after reading these comments. They not only wrote about academic lessons, but they wrote about character education. SO AWESOME!!! We took a walk around the school, taking 100 steps from place to place. We found some siblings on our walk! Ordering numbers was the challenge of the day. Students cut up 120 charts and put them in order. We worked in teams to order 3 numbers from least to greatest. Math boxes and technology activities are always fun and engaging. We did a science experiment after discussing the Arctic. The students put their hands in ice cold water, then inside a glove that was filled with "blubber" like animals might have. Time to build some igloos! While not everyone in the Arctic lives in an igloo, there are some who do. We worked in teams to build our village and talk about what life would be like in this harsh environment. Camp Koski Arctic Post One of our wonderful parents came in to discuss coding and GPS information. It was very timely since we have been studying maps. We've been working all week on these Arctic Animal books. We studied 5 different animals and wrote about them. They enjoyed sharing them.
