This family is such a beautiful thing to watch in nature, and remember - this is our National Symbol!
Click on this document for a sneak peek at the eagles. They are incubating 3 eggs. In the photos, mom is on the right. Last year I became a tiny bit obsessed with a pair of bald eagles in Decorah, Iowa. I followed their journey from hatching 3 eggs, to raising 3 bouncing baby eaglets that finally fled the nest. Now we are on a new journey, as mom has recently laid 3 eggs this year. They are amazing parents and take turns on the nest. The giant nest is located near a fish hatchery which provides an ample food supply. They are fascinating to watch and we have periodically been checking on them in class. Take a look at the website:

The students worked so hard on our large mural of nursery rhyme and fairy tale characters. Everyone had a chance to color and create a character to add. It's quite lovely, isn't it?
We had a fun party this afternoon. We opened our cards, ate some delicious food (thank you, PTO), read a funny book, and played Huckle Buckle Valentine.
The students had a great time opening and reading their valentines. It was fun!
As we begin our unit on fairy tales and nursery rhymes, we made castles! Each student painted their own castle and selected a character they wanted to live with them. They added flags, towers, windows and a few even added window blinds! It was a lot of fun to watch them work. Castle idea from Deep Space Sparkle
