Arctic Post
We celebrated 100 days of school with lots of fun activities and stations! I asked the students to write about what they had learned over the past 100 days. My heart was so full after reading these comments. They not only wrote about academic lessons, but they wrote about character education. SO AWESOME!!! We took a walk around the school, taking 100 steps from place to place. We found some siblings on our walk! Ordering numbers was the challenge of the day. Students cut up 120 charts and put them in order. We worked in teams to order 3 numbers from least to greatest. Math boxes and technology activities are always fun and engaging. We did a science experiment after discussing the Arctic. The students put their hands in ice cold water, then inside a glove that was filled with "blubber" like animals might have. Time to build some igloos! While not everyone in the Arctic lives in an igloo, there are some who do. We worked in teams to build our village and talk about what life would be like in this harsh environment. Camp Koski Arctic Post One of our wonderful parents came in to discuss coding and GPS information. It was very timely since we have been studying maps. We've been working all week on these Arctic Animal books. We studied 5 different animals and wrote about them. They enjoyed sharing them.
