This week we read interesting and fun literature about apples. We learned about the life cycle, and were surprised to learn about the many different varieties of apples. We needed to experience this for ourselves with an apple tasting event! We used the cores to make beautiful apple stamp prints. Then it was time to make the applesauce! It was so delicious! We were too busy eating to take photos! :) We explored matter in different ways this week. After making "oobleck", we played with the substance to determine if it was a liquid or a solid. We pretended to be molecules/particles in a solid, and tried to fit into the same area together (molecules are tightly packed in a solid). Looking through a microscope allowed the students to examine different types of solids. Which items will sink? Which will float? We made predictions and recorded our results. Then each student made their own aluminum foil boat, with the hope that it would float! In Math, we created our own plane shapes. We celebrated the end of our King and Queen writing unit by sharing our books. And one more..."take our picture, Mrs. Koski!"
