Our artwork related to the study of China was amazing! We were ready for Festival Week. First, we had to celebrate Poem in Your Pocket Day. Thank you to the many students that brought in poems. We wore our handy pouches, and read poems throughout the day. Sharing things that came from China was interesting! The students wrote facts for our display board that was placed in the library. We explored tangrams: a Chinese geometric puzzle consisting of a square cut into seven pieces that can be arranged to make various other shapes. They loved making pictures and letters. We also tried doing beautiful Chinese calligraphy with paint. Using chopsticks is a little tricky, so we practiced transferring pom pom balls from one plate to another. Time for the Food Tasting Feast! They loved leaving their shoes in the hallway. We made beautiful lion masks and lanterns to carry in the parade. Let's go! The whole school had a wonderful sing-a-long, celebrating many cultures.
