The students had so much fun creating a habitat for their rocks.
We began our week with a plain gingerbread house. The students decorated it throughout the week. The students had fun reading inside the house! We worked a lot with tens and ones this week in Math. We even did some house designs and counted how many units we used. We enjoyed some holiday projects done by two students at home. One spoke about traditions with her Christmas in Mexico, and another spoke about traditions with her family in North Carolina. Very impressive! When we heard that one of our paraprofessionals had just taken her oath for U.S. citizenship, we made her some congratulatory cards. Dr. Dupre (FBISD Superintendent) was on campus that day and also congratulated her. In Science, we have studied soil and rocks, and discussed how important they are in our world. Several students shared rocks from their own collections. Pet rocks! The students had so much fun creating a habitat for their rocks. Here's what happens when you are both reading the same book, and you end up on the same page!
