The Multicultural Festival is a 25-year tradition at Highlands. First Grade studies the country of China. Here are some of the crafts we made: scrolls with the animal of their birth year (according to the Chinese calendar), fish kite stories, and colorful dragons. We made Chinese tangram creations in math. We had a fun time tasting Chinese food! But first, we took our shoes off... Now, we are ready for the parade! The Festival was a blast! We also celebrated Earth Day this week and discussed ways to take care of our planet. There was a national day of celebration on Thursday called "Poem in Your Pocket" Day. We enjoyed carrying around a few poems all day in our "pockets." We also enjoyed a graphing activity with Fruit Loops. Having missed 2 days for the flood, we sure did a lot in 3 days!
