We continued our discussion of natural resources by observing and immersing ourselves in the study of rocks. The students really enjoyed observing all types of rocks. And....then we created little habitats for our PET ROCKS! We learned about igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks and their attributes. Ms. Yee made a visual example of layering different substances like you might find in a rock. We then used playdough to "make" our own layered rocks! Another fun "rock" activity was drawing with CHALK: a soft, white, porous sedimentary rock, a form of limestone!
