We learned a lot about penguins this week, then the students created their favorite species. They are adorable! The Emperor penguin is the tallest penguin. It is about the size of a First-Grader, so we measured ourselves to see the comparison. Look at these scientists recording their observations! We discussed fractions this week and made "fraction pizzas", and "fractionpillars." We also began our unit on Numbers to 120. The students worked in groups to put together number puzzles and felt pretty victorious afterwards! We learned about compound words this week, and the students made these flip posters. We also enjoyed our winter discussion of snow by making some instant snow. So cool!

AuthorI am a retired First Grade teacher in Texas. I have two children, two daughters-in-law, a grandson and granddaughter. Our beloved pup, Rocco, went to heaven this year. He was 15 years old. I've been married 37 years. I would love to hear from any former students! Archives
