This week, we have enjoyed all sorts of books and videos about the ocean. It is an amazing habitat to study! It's always fun to share our ideas. We made our own wishes after reading The Magic Fish. We enjoyed seeing some of the sea animals up close, like this giant sea turtle! After reading Eric Carle's wonderful book, we made some "new shells" of our own. Everyone is heading to Second Grade! We've been studying money all week. Some of the students brought in their own coins for us to observe. We created our own special quarters and had a guessing game to figure out the artists! Mrs. Bathe gave calculators to the students, so we learned a little about them, and tried some math problems. We ended the week with a visit from Toro, the mascot for the Houston Texans. He spoke about getting fit through exercise and good food choices. We even visited with JJ Watt through a phone chat. Here's another Family Fun Night shout out to these creative students and their lemonade stand. Proceeds were donated to our Highlands PTO!
