Things were hopping in First Grade this week. We spent the week doing a lot of fun activities. We focused on trees in our reading and writing lessons. We read Leaf Magic, then imagined what we'd wish for. We did some leaf rubbings after learning about different kinds of trees. The students used their real world knowledge to write some poems about trees. The best part is always sharing with a friend! Look how proud they are! Math has been all about fractions this week. We made these sweet little "Fractionpillars" which were a big hit! We made some interesting fraction pizzas! As we learned about jobs and the economy, we did a little riddle game with our friends. We had to guess which profession they drew. Our science study of natural resources allowed us to examine a collection of rocks. Several students even brought in their own rocks from home. They were so interested in this Rock Lab as they recorded their observations!
