As I prepared to post pictures this week, I realized the students are looking down in so many pictures. I guess you could say that they were very focused on the work each day! We worked hard with partners this week to help edit each other's writing. Each student has a set of writing goals (orange paper) to work on. We have been investigating soil and discussing how important it is in our world. Look at these scientists doing observations! Another important concept in science and writing is to learn all about a topic. We are working on some special "All About" reports with nocturnal animals. We did research in the computer lab this week. We can't share our reports just yet, but we added a design element to our projects. In our study of nocturnal animals, we observed an owl pellet. Owls eat mice, among other things, and the fur and bones that cannot be digested are spit up in the form of a pellet. It was interesting to observe it. We learned about dental health during a visit from Avalon Dental this week.
